Bought this computer in late January. It arrived with bad USB ports. Toshiba's phone support people could only suggest a reset to factory specs. As it turns out, that would not have worked; the problem is with the BIOS Toshiba provided (which, I gather, may be called a UEFI, but BIOS is the term Toshiba's authorized repair facility has been using in describing the problem).Took it to Toshiba's authorized repair facility. They diagnosed a conflict between the BIOS and Windows 8. After some muddling with Toshiba, they were directed by Toshiba to replace the motherboard. (Do not ask me why that would be the fix; I'm not a techie.)Replacing the motherboard sent by Toshiba did not fix the BIOS/Windows 8 conflict. Now their only suggested solution is to have them install Windows 7 -- at my expense, since downgrading it to a a Windows 7 computer is not covered by the warranty.So, bottom line is that Toshiba does not provide a functioning Windows 8 computer, and does not pay the cost of turning their non-functioning computer into a functioning Windows 7 computer.So, great doorstop; not so great as a computer.
